LinkedIn Carousels (PDF Documents)

A quick explanation of how to create carousel posts on LinkedIn

Carousels are one of the most popular formats of post on LinkedIn. They're engaging, interactive, informative - and supported within Willow!

To help you make the most of carousels, here's a quick guide on how to use them.

Format

There are a few limits on what can be submitted as a carousel:

  • File type must be PDF only - Willow only supports PDFs at this time.
  • Files can be no larger than 100mb or 300 pages, whatever comes first.

How to upload a PDF

The way to do this is simple - create a new post, add click the PDF attachment button at the bottom left of the composer. You'll then be prompted to add a PDF.

If you have channels other than LinkedIn selected, you'll be asked to remove these. No other social platforms apart from LinkedIn support the use of PDF documents.

All you then need to do is upload, write your caption and schedule the post! Simple!

Suggestions for Carousels

There's no real rules for LinkedIn carousels since it depends on the purpose but we'd suggest:

  • Make it no longer than 20 pages - past this point, you don't usually get many views so it's best to keep your carousels shorter.
  • Keep to a 1:1 aspect ratio - this means square dimensions (i.e. 1,200px x 1,200px). This isn't a set rule but carousels in a square format display far better in the feed than others.
  • Stick to the basic rules of powerpoint slides - don't overdo each carousel slide with lots of text and leave the explanations to the main body of your post. Think of them as an accompaniment to your post rather than the main focus.
