An explainer on why channels need refreshing

After using Willow for a while, you may have seen this message appear on your screen:

Encountering this popup is quite common, and here's the reason why...

When we link to a social media platform, we utilize a token to access permissions such as posting and retrieving analytics. This token is provided by the specific social media platform – imagine it as a key to access.

These tokens come with certain conditions. They have an expiration date, and if you make changes to your permissions on the platform (such as adjusting who can view your posts or disabling comments), we will need to request a new token.

This message indicates that Willow needs to reapply for a new token.

What should I do?

Refreshing is a simple process if you just follow the on-screen instructions. All you need to do is click on 'reconnect' when prompted, and you're good to go!

I'm seeing this modal too much

If you're not frequently changing permissions on your account, you shouldn't see this popup too often. However, if you find yourself encountering this modal multiple times a month, or even once a week, please reach out to your customer success manager. We will investigate the issue further for you.
