How to handle channels with insufficient permissions
This guide walks you through resolving a channel with insufficient permissions
Permission required errors typically occur when a social media platform updates its policies or when changes are made to an account's security settings. These errors can prevent Willow from performing actions like posting, retrieving analytics, or syncing data. Willow marks channels with insufficient permissions with a yellow outline.
When do Permission Errors occur:
- Platform Policy Changes:
- Social media platforms periodically update their API policies, requiring reauthorization for certain actions or features.
- Account Security Updates:
- The account's owner may have changed passwords, modified permissions, or revoked access for connected applications.
How to resolve:
- Log In to the Affected Channel:
- Identify the channel (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) where the permission error occurred.
- Log in to the account associated with that channel directly on the social media platform.
- Reauthorize the Connection:
- When logged in to the channel in question, follow the on-screen prompts to reauthorize the channel and grant the necessary permissions.
- Facebook and Instagram (Meta):
- For Facebook and Instagram, login to your facebook profile and go to Settings & Privacy → Business Integrations and check if Willow shows the message "Some permissions have expired".
-
If permissions have expired:
- Click View and Edit next to Willow.
- Grant all necessary permissions to restore functionality.
